Tento film je predstaven v Londyne jako soucast filmoveho festivalu East End Film Festival, ktery je predevsim zameren na nezavisle filmy. East End Film Festival se tento rok konna od 23. dubna do 30. dubna 2009 predevsim v kinech ve vychodni casti Londyna (East End) a Rene je promitan v kine Cineworld in West India Quay 28. dubna od 20:30 hod. Ryze dokumentární film se syrovou autentičností vypráví těžko uvěřitelný příběh Reného, který byl od sedmnácti let sledován filmovou kamerou na své cestě mezi vězeními a krátkými pobyty na svobodě. Kamera ho v roce 2008 opouští v jeho sedmatřiceti letech, tedy přesně o dvacet let později, jako nemocného člověka, muže stále se pohybujícího na hraně zákona, který napsal a publikoval dvě knihy. Čas proměny z mladíka v muže zaznamenávala režisérka Helena Třeštíková na pozadí významných politických změn střední Evropy.

Director Trestikova has been a filmmaker since 1968, and in 1980 she embarked on an extensive project combining sociology, demography and documentary to follow six married couples and their family life between 1980 and 1987, in a smash hit for Czech television. She has had continued success with the genre of time collection documentary, of which Rene is an extraordinary example.
